1. Slavery pattern in North America took a funny trend since initially the blacks had some social positions and had a voice in the running of the community. This however later changed and the North also started to own slaves at a higher rate. There are several factors that led to this change in events in the north that made it to fancy slavery just as much as the South was with its plantations. It is worth noting the background of the slavery trend in order to fully comprehend the drastic shift in slavery from the class servitude to racial slavery which was predominantly in the late 17th century and early 18th century. The black laborers and white laborers from the working class used to work on the same level and the Europeans used to be allowed to have slaves from the non-Christians population regardless of the color. The class determined the servitude. Any servant who broke his contract terms was punished regardless of the race. At the end of the slavery time, they used to be give freedom dues and let go. States like Virginia had such policies implemented very strictly in the 1625s leading to 1670s. It was during the 1670 that the trend began to change against the black slaves. The freed slaves had the right to get some piece of land as a freedom token. The tricky part with this was that as more and more slaves were released, the pressure on the land grew and they ultimately posed a danger to the land that belonged to the elite white settlers. With this demand, we are seeing the average dinner plate has increased in size from a ten-inch dinner plate to a twelve-inch dinner plate. Americans are filling their plates and have been raised with the basic fallacy that they need to clear their plates and finish even when they are feeling full. When in reality what they need to do is eat a balanced meal and not indulge in too many calories. The current trend in America for food is that it be quick and easy when these items are high in calories and low in nutritionally sufficient ingredients. These symptoms vary from woman to woman. PMS is a hormonal disorder characterized by a regularly recurring group of symptoms. These symptoms may occur from two to fourteen days before a woman's menstrual period, usually disappearing after the period begins and directly followed by a symptom-free time each month. PMS symptoms can be both emotional and physical, affecting almost every system of the body. Some symptoms of other medical conditions can resemble PMS. Some of these conditions include allergies, depression, diabetes, dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, fibrocystic breast disease, and thyroid problems. To help determine whether you suffer from PMS, use symptom charting, as PMS symptoms usually come and go each month and at the same time. PMS symptoms occur in the second half of the menstrual cycle. During this time, production of the hormone Progesterone should increase and peak. About seven days before the menstrual period, Estrogen and Progesterone levels decrease dramatically, causing menstruation to occur. PMS symptoms occur as a result of low levels of progesterone, excessive levels of estrogen and/or fluctuations in both levels. Many women find that PMS worsens with age. This also suggests a correlation with hormone levels being out of balance. There are many treatments for PMS. Some of these treatments are exersize, having a balanced diet, the best way to have a balance diet and to reduce PMS is to have 6 small meals everyday instead of three large meals. Both of these techniques can help women reduce the symptoms of PMS. Recent studies are indicating that girls are going through puberty at earlier ages. The question that arises on many peoples minds is: What's causing it? and what are the pychological effects? The most common instance of this are in obese children, however this is not a definite cause. Some of the cause are: * PCB's- these long lived chemicals, once used in electric power industry, may jump start reproductive development. phthalates- a study speculates that they may have caused two year olds in Puerto Rico to grow breasts. But the link is far from proved. * HORMONES IN MILK AND MEAT- there given to help cattle grow bigger, produce more. Some think hormones linger in food and wreck havoc. * FAT CELLS- lepitin, a protein secreted by these cells, is involved in the progression of puberty.
